BLUE VALLEY NORTHWEST – GIRLS TENNIS

FALL 2020

 

LOCKER ROOM

 

The assistant coach will monitor the girls P.E. locker room before, during, and after use.  

 

This includes: 

  • Players are social distancing to the best extent possible 
  • 10 or less players in the locker room at once
  • Properly wearing masks
  • No items/equipment left behind

  

All items will be discarded if left in the locker room.   

 

During the Hybrid Learning Model, when players are on their scheduled Remote Learning Days, they will come dressed and ready for practice. They will NOT have access to the locker room.

 

No locks or lockers will be checked out to the girl’s tennis team.

 

ALL items will need to be put in your car, if possible. If a player is unable to do this, there will be a designated area for items.

 

*No returning to locker rooms after practice and/or matches

PRACTICES Practice ONLY Items:  

  • Water (Bring your own water)
  • Tennis Racquets (No more than 2)
  • Masks (Masks must be worn when not on court)
  • Medical related items (inhalers, EpiPen, etc.) 

 

*Tape or markers will be utilized to ensure social distancing on tennis courts and surrounding perimeter during practices.

The Head coach and/or assistant coach will walk the grounds before, during, and after practice. Captains will visually assist in locating any items left. All items will be discarded if left on school grounds per school procedures. 

 

  • Temperature checks
    • Taken before entering the locker room OR arriving at the tennis courts.
  • Attendance recorded with QR code
  • COVID-19 Questionnaire recorded with QR Code
  • Hydration
    • Players will bring their own water bottles. If athletes don’t have their own water bottle, they can’t practice. Players will be sent home to get one or have a parent bring one.
  • Masks
    • Are part of our uniform
    • If the athlete wants to wear it 100% of the time, they can do that.
    • Must be worn when NOT on the court
  • Positive or asymptomatic:  see protocol below
  • Intermittent cleaning of equipment during practice
    • Sanitize equipment every 30 min
  • Equipment sanitized at the completion of each practice
MATCHES @ HOME  

Match ONLY Items:  

  • Water (Bring your own water)
  • Tennis Racquets (No more than 2)
  • Masks 
  • Medical related items (inhalers, EpiPen, etc.)

  • Location for visiting teams – Located on/near South side bleachers
  • Masks
    • Are part of our uniform
    • If the athlete wants to wear it 100% of the time, they can do that.
    • Must be worn when NOT on the court
  • Warm up- 2 tennis balls with the same number, marked with sharpie
  • Bench protocol: Tape or markers utilized
  • Pre-game
  • Post-game- BVNW players required to place used tennis balls in the basket after completing their match.
  • During game:  social distancing/masks; worn if not in sub rotation
    • Athletes may wear it 100% of the time
  • Severe Weather – Go Home
  • Spectator Protocol
    • Home fans: Located on/near west bleachers.  Immediate family only. No students that aren’t siblings of players.
    • Away fans:  Located on/near South side bleachers
TENNIS BALLS Matches:  2 tennis balls with the same number, marked with sharpie.

Use a racquet or your foot to return a tennis ball that is NOT yours.

 

Practice:  Use a racquet or your foot to move the tennis balls to the net or fence.  A designated player will use the hopper to pick them up and place them in the basket.  *Do Not Touch Tennis Balls with your hands while picking up during practice.

TRAVEL No more than 8 players per van.  Masks must be worn by coaches and players at all times when using the van. 

 

Coaches will complete appropriate protocol before and after van use.  

Van:  No Food/Drink, sanitize before and after use, masks worn.  Each van will have a “cleaning kit” available

 

Parent/Student drivers: If the transportation form is marked and signed, parents can decide how their students are transported for practices and games.

 

Players may use their own transportation if requested by a parent.

SYMPTOMS/POSITIVE PROTOCOL Respect Confidentiality

Once a student or employee is excluded from the school environment, they may return if they satisfy the recommendations of KDHE or JCDHE. All scenarios will be brought to the attention of the district’s “COVID team”; medical clearance provided.

  • Untested
    Persons who have not received a test proving or disproving the presence of COVID-19 but experience symptoms may return if the following conditions are met:

    • 10 calendar days have passed since the onset of symptoms AND
    • Fever free for 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine
    • Improvement of other symptoms (cough, shortness of breath is improved)
    • If symptoms develop during the 10-day period of isolation, then the criteria for symptomatic individuals should be followed and adhere to a timeline of 10 days from the first day of onset symptoms
  • Tested and Awaiting Results
    Persons who are suspected of having COVID-19 and are awaiting test results should be isolated at home until test results are received. School personnel will be contacted regarding contacting appropriate health care professionals.
  • Positive Test Results 
    • Symptomatic individuals may return when the following conditions are met:
      • 10 calendar days have passed since symptoms first appeared AND clearance has been given by medical personnel
      • Fever free for 72 hours without use of fever-reducing medicine
    • Asymptomatic individuals may return when the following conditions are met:
      • 10 calendar days have passed since the date the test sample was collected
      • Symptoms have not developed
      • If symptoms developed during the 10-day period of isolation, then the above criteria for symptomatic individuals should be followed and adhere to a timeline of 10 days from the first day of onset of symptoms

Not hosting any sub-varsity tournaments in district

Varsity tournaments based on calendar/COVID.
