Pending BOE Approval, The Blue Valley Northwest Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Zack Orrick as the new Head Wrestling Coach. Coach Orrick becomes only the 2nd Head Wrestling Coach in the history of the BVNW High School Wrestling Program after taking over after the retirement of Coach Tim Serbousek.

Coach Orrick was born and raised in the Kansas City metro area. He attended Blue Valley Schools from K-12 and graduated from Blue Valley High School in 2002.  While attending Blue Valley High School, Coach Orrick participated in Wrestling and Football. He was a 3 year varsity letter winner in wrestling and a 2 year varsity letter winner in football.  Following graduation from Blue Valley High School, Coach Orrick attended Kansas State University where he majored in Secondary education with a concentration in Social Studies.  He graduated from Kansas State University in 2007. He received his Master’s degree in Building Leadership from Baker University in 2014.

In 2008, Coach Orrick was hired at Blue Valley Northwest High School to teach in the Social Studies Department.  He has taught a number of Social Studies classes during his employment at Blue Valley Northwest, but his main concentration has been AP Human Geography.  Coach Orrick has been on the wrestling staff since 2008. In addition to coaching wrestling, he has also been an assistant coach on the Husky football staff since 2008.  Prior to Blue Valley Northwest, Coach Orrick was an assistant wrestling coach at Blue Valley High School during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He also assisted on the football staff for one season at Spring Hill High School during the 2007 season.

Coach Orrick has assisted the Husky Wrestling program to many successes throughout his years at Blue Valley Northwest, including three league championships in 2009, 2014 and 2015, two regional championships in 2011 and 2014 and a 3rd place finish at the 6A State Championships in 2014.  Coach Orrick has assisted in coaching 39 athletes to state placer finishes throughout his tenure at Blue Valley Northwest.

Coach Orrick is married to his wife Nicole who works in the Blue Valley School District; they have one daughter Sadie who is a kindergartner at Cottonwood Point Elementary in the Blue Valley School District.  Coach Orrick is excited about the opportunity to continue to grow the strong traditions of Husky Wrestling.
