Junior Lindsey Farthing threw a shutout on Friday for the Huskies, allowing zero runs and besting Blue Valley Southwest by a score of 6-0.
The Huskies opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored senior Olivia Shin who singled to start the inning and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman Danni Waller.
BVNW put up three runs in the third inning. Freshman Ella Burvee started the inning with a triple and scored on a single by junior Brynn Grosdidier. Grosdidier and Farthing then scored on a double by freshman Lainie Douglas. A strong relay by BVSW doubled up Douglas and Shayla Edwards to end the inning.
The Huskies would get two more runs in the 6th inning on a single by Burvee, who drove in Shin and Waller who reached earlier in the inning.
Farthing led the Huskies to victory in the pitcher’s circle. Farthing allowed just five hits and zero runs over six and two-thirds innings, walking one. A strong defense kept the Timberwolves off the bases in the second game of this doubleheader. Heidrick took the loss for Blue Valley Southwest, allowing six runs on eight hits.
Huskies tallied eight hits. Ella Burvee and Olivia Shin had multiple hits for Huskies. Shin finished the game with 3 singles and Burvee had a triple and 2 singles.
The Huskies are back in action on May 3rd against Mill Valley. Game time is 4:30 at the DAC.
